Winding Down
Well, this semester is officially winding down. Hallelujah! I have taken 3 finals and turned in 1 paper so far this week. That's not counting the 5 papers, 1 presentation, and 1 test that I had last week. Now I just have 1 big paper and 2 finals left to go before I'm free...for this semester at least. :/ I will be so glad to be done. I'll actually get to have a decent night's sleep again. Oh, and I'll get to finish Christmas shopping and start wrapping presents! Not to mention finish, I mean start, making some of the presents I need to make. Oh dear. So much to do, but it'll be fun once this school stuff is over. Speaking of which, I need to go work on that.

Insane Day and Insane Weather
Since I did two giveaway posts today, I decided to do a real post. Well, not really a "real" one because it's copied over from my Xanga site, but you know what I mean.
I really did mean to get on here yesterday to update, but there was absolutely NO time. My day started off with 8:00 piano. We got our individual outside repertoire pieces at the end of class. He picked out a different Christmas song for each of us based on our level. When I heard that, I slightly freaked out mentally, thinking he would give me a song that is truly at my level, and I'd only have a week to prepare it. Thankfully, though, he gave me one at "my level" within the beginner's class. Whew! So it is definitely one of the tougher ones out of the class, I'm sure, but it's piece of cake for me. I still haven't told him that I've had 13 years of piano lessons. Haha. He obviously figured out that I'm much more advanced than everyone else in the class because he asked me the one day in front of the whole class if I was even learning anything in his class. I assured him I was because I never had gotten the theory behind all the major and minor chords and the relative minors down well during piano lessons, so that has been the one thing I've learned from this class. I didn't tell him all of that; I just assured him that I was learning something.
After my next class and a chapel that I kept just about dozing off in (it was a chapel about the environment by one of the most boring profs on campus-not that I've heard them all speak but ya know what I mean- *yawn*), I hightailed it back to my room with a bag-it lunch to finish preparing something to be shipped out and then study for my math test. I had my math test at 1:00 that day, and I hadn't had time to study for it yet! Thankfully I was able to study everything because math comes easily to me, and I think I did really well on the test.
Then I went and took a package to mailing & duplicating, picked up the papers to grade, Christa and I got our free H1N1 vaccines and thoroughly enjoyed the hilarious ladies in the health department on campus, and then came back to our room to spend the rest of the day working on our research papers and presentation. We started at 4:00 in the afternoon and I didn't finish mine until 2:00 this morning. Of course, that was a research paper AND a PowerPoint that I had to prepare, so that slightly explains it, but that's just ridiculous! I obviously stopped for dinner and for little breaks, but Christa and I agreed that we put WAY too much work into it for it to only be worth 100 points. I don't think our prof understands how many hours it takes to do all of that to only give it that much credit. End-of-the-chapter questions are worth 10 points! So to only make this worth 100 points for both the paper and the presentation didn't make us too happy.
So I got in bed around 2:30 and couldn't fall asleep until after 3:00 and then had to get up at 7:30. Grr... But thankfully everything went really well! I was pleased! Christa said I spoke loudly enough and everything. I hardly had to look down at my PowerPoint, and I was able to do all the elaborating from those points without looking at notes. Woo!
The weather has been INSANE this week. All of a sudden winter arrived out of no where. Monday we woke up to snow covering everything! The first official snow (that stuck) of the season! The roads were HORRENDOUS. It took Mom a ridiculously long time to get to work in her car. She was going 5 mph around the round-about and still went skidding into the center...at 5 mph! Insane! She didn't hit anything, thankfully- she just barely missed the fence. They didn't call school because the snow didn't even start until 5:30 and didn't start accumulating until 6:30, and they would've had to call school or a delay before that. So just from 6:30 til Mom left for work at 7:30, the roads had gotten that bad. Jen heard that just in the city limits of Fort Wayne, between the hours of 7 and 11 in the morning, there were 86 accidents called in to the city police. That is just the accidents that were actually called in! And that was 86 accidents, NOT cars involved. AND that was just the ones in the city, not outside the city limits. Coming off of I-69 by Lutheran, there was a 6 car pile-up. One car skidded into another and then it was a domino-effect. Yikes.
When I went to go home that night, I realized that I didn't have a scraper in my car since it's new! I didn't even think about it. But since I got it this summer, I haven't had a need for a scraper, so I was quite without. There was snow and ice completely covering my car. I started my defrost and scraped the snow off with my gloves and then gave up. I called Mom, who said to call Jen, who came and rescued me by bringing me a scraper. Thanks, Jen! I went and picked up dinner for both of us from the HUB while she scraped my car for me.
Yesterday was okay until the afternoon. We were under a Winter Weather Advisory from 1-10. It just sleeted the whole time. But when we woke up this morning, it was fairly warm (in the 30s), with little wind, and no ice! It was raining, in fact! Then when we left class, ha! Things had sure changed! The wind was INSANE! It was snow/icing and the little pellets were stinging so badly because the wind was blowing them horizontally. Ow! Christa and I were in our dress clothes for our presentations, so we were trying not to fall in our heels! I thankfully had my hat with me, so I walked with my head down, bent over against the wind. Lol! By the time I got in our dorm, all the way across campus, the entire front of me was coated with the little ice/snow balls. I was quite a sight. It is nasty out there today!

Sickness and Christmas
Another post from my Xanga site...
I am in SUCH a good mood today! I don't know why, but I'm almost giddy with happiness! I have every reason NOT to be happy: I feel like crap, I can't think straight, this sickness is fogging my brain, my sinuses are burning, it's dreary/cold/gray/raining out, I am coming up on finals, I have two major papers to write in the next two weeks, I can't breathe, I need to find a roommate for next year, my nose is raw from blowing so much, I have so much other homework to do, Jen just got really bad news about her car and needs to come up with thousands of dollars, I am sleep-deprived...and yet I'm HAPPY beyond belief. I guess it's more joy than happiness. I am choosing to be joyful. I am letting the little blessings in my life outweigh the downers. What are the happy things in my life right now? Here they are in no particular order...

- It's the Christmas season!
- I have a Christmas tree sitting next to me.
- I have the best roommate in the world, and we are the best of friends.
- Christa and I had a blast today after e-mailing a professor an assignment we forgot about, just talking and joking and laughing hysterically. In fact, we laughed so much, it kept sending me into fits of coughing.
- Tonight is the TobyMac concert here at school!
- Tonight I get to see Tim, my cousin who is in TobyMac and see pictures of his baby.
- I have the most amazing, supportive family ever.
- I get to see Jen's twinnies this weekend.
- Christa and I are going to decorate my house for Christmas some more this weekend.
- We are done with classes for the day.
- Jen just said we are getting a Christmas card from a Xanga friend this year.
- I have a Lord who loves me and died for me.
- I have understanding professors who actually care about me as a person and not just a student
- I was able to read an insanely long chapter in Ed. Psych last night in record time AND actually understand it!
- I am coming up with some awesome Christmas presents for people.
- I'm sure there are more, but I am coming up blank now.
- See why life is good?!
Now on the Christmas presents topic, does anyone have suggestions for what to get my dad or grandparents??? I'm coming up blank. I have Mom, Jen, and Carly done. Mom and Jen took care of Peyton, Ashley, and Delaney this past weekend. Christa is almost done. I'm waiting for a bit of info from Nathan (Alicia's boyfriend) before I can finish Alicia. Andrea I'm not sure about. Dad is partially done. Still so much to do, but yet at the same time, I have so much done by this point for me! I'm usually a last-minute shopper b/c of my crazy schedule. I'm getting so excited about giving everyone their gifts!

Sick
I'm just copying this over from my Xanga site. I figured I might as well put some kind of an update over here.
I have so much to say and so much to share, but I'll start with the main thing in my life right now. I'm still sick. But now I'm REALLY sick. I finally finished my antibiotics last Wednesday. I had done 20 days of Augmentin (at 4 pills/day- that makes 80 pills of Augmentin!) and 10 days of Prednisone (15 pills total of that) because I wasn't getting better. Well, I thought I was healthy last Wednesday morning for good. Then Wednesday night right before we left for Michigan, my chest got really tight, which I just attributed to the fact that it had been 4 hours since my last breathing treatment. But I found it kind of odd that it would be doing that since I thought I was almost healthy again. I didn't have time for a breathing treatment though since we had to get on the road. By the time we got to Michigan, it was getting worse. Thursday I kept feeling worse and worse. Friday it was to the point that I knew I needed a doctor, but of course it was a long weekend so NO ONE was in. At least no one that could help me! Especially from out of state! I called my allergist. Their answering machine tells me to call my family doctor. I call my pulmonologist. His nurse is in for a couple hours but she doesn't have the power to do anything for me. So why is she there without a doctor?! That one didn't make sense. So she said I could schedule an appointment for Monday to see the doc. I did. That meant I went the whole long weekend without any extra help and just kept getting worse and worse.
Now I am worse than I was when this all started over a month ago! I am in full-blown sickness. I feel rather crummy. And I thought I had it pretty bad a couple weeks ago when all I could do was go to class and sleep (not in class ). But nope. This is even worse. Just like it normally is every year. So I went to my pulmonologist, Dr. Rasp, this morning. I love that guy. He is the one that is like a grandpa to me. He said there is no way I should have gone a long weekend like that without meds! He said I should have called him at home! Isn't that sweet?! Well, that is just fine and dandy, but how am I supposed to do that when I don't have his home phone number??? So he put me on a new round of meds that will not only help me get better but also ward off the other sicknesses that are found on a college campus. Plus he upped the dosage on my inhaler. I'm still on the breathing treatments, too.
We should have a day of mourning. This was my last appointment with Dr. Rasp! He is leaving that practice and going up to one of the hospitals to work. It's his "semi-retirement" as the nurses like to tease him by saying. What am I going to do without him?! He has been such an incredible doctor. He has helped me a lot. He even gave Christa and I each a business card of his the one time in case I ever needed help since I was going off to college. He had said I could just call him and he'd get something for me right away. He has taken the time to get to know me better at each appointment, non-medically related. He always says how sweet I am and what a sweet smile I have. Lol. He says he loves it when he walks in the room and sees me because I'm much nicer than some of his elderly patients that he deals with. Haha. He recommended another doctor for me, though. He said he is cute and young and I'll really like him. He said I can call him at home if I don't like him- that is how confident he is that I will like this new guy. Oh my. Lol. I will miss Dr. Rasp. He always made me laugh.
I remembered today something my allergist once said after looking up my nose (lovely, right? Haha). He said, "There are three things I can count on each day: that the sun will rise, the sun will set, and Leanne will be congested." Do I take that as a compliment?
Random Updates...
I was very pleased with the results of Dancing with the Stars last week! I wasn't happy that Joanna was voted off before Kelly was. That was not right at ALL. But I was glad Kelly was the first one voted off in the finals and that Donny and Mya were the two in the top spots. I didn't care which one of them won. I would have been happy with either. They were both so good.
Last weekend we went to see Beauty and the Beast again at the college. It was SO incredible!!! They did an awesome job, and all of the many hours of hard work was very evident. I strongly suggest for you all to look at the pictures at this link. They are on HU's Facebook page. The pictures of them turned out wonderfully as well. The guy who did my Senior pictures took them. It's not the same as actually seeing the show, but it's the next best thing! So please go look at them! Their costumes, set, everything was incredible.
We also went to see the 25th annual Pomp and Plenty show. That is the high school's show choir's fall show that they put on every year. It was amazing, as usual. While we were there, Jen got up to go to the bathroom. When she stood up, her cell phone fell on the floor. I bent forward to grab it when Dad asked me to and smacked my head into the chair in front of me. Not one of my brightest moments. I immediately had a nice little knot on my head. Thankfully it was right below my hairline on my forehead, so my hair covered it when I had my hair down.
