Even though it IS almost Christmas and this would probably be more effective at another time of the year, I still wanted to share this song.
Don't Save It All for Christmas Day by Avalon Don't get so busy that you miss Giving just a little kiss To the ones you love Don't even wait a little while To give them just a little smile A little is enough See how many people are crying Some people are dying How many people are asking for love
So don't save it all for Christmas day Find a way To give a little love every day Don't save it all for Christmas day Find a way 'Cause holidays have come and gone But love lives on If you give on Love
How could you wait another minute A hug is warmer when you're in it Oh, baby that's a fact And saying I love you's always better Seasons, reasons they don't matter So don't hold back See how many people in this world So needful in this world How many people are praying for love
repeat chorus
So let all the children know Everywhere that they go Their whole life long Let them know love
My friend Kelsey sang this song during a YES (Youth Emphasis Service) when we were in 9th or 10th grade, I believe. I realized later that it was one of the songs in my piano book at home. I also had the song on a CD. So I have heard it a lot since then and love it.
Adonai by Avalon One single drop of rain Your salty tear became blue ocean One tiny grain of sand turning in your hand A world in motion You're out beyond the furthest Morning Star Close enough to hold me in Your arms
Adonai, I lift up my heart and I cry My Adonai You're Maker of each moment Father of my hope and freedom Oh, my Adonai
One timid faithful knock Resounds upon the Rock of Ages One trembling heart and soul Becomes a servant bold and courageous
You call across the mountains and the seas I answer from the deepest part of me
Adonai, I lift up my heart and I cry My Adonai You are Maker of each moment Father of my hope and freedom Oh, my Adonai
Oh, From age to age you reign in Majesty And today You're making miracles in me
Adonai! I lift up my heart and I cry My Adonai You are Maker of each moment Father of my hope and freedom Oh, my Adonai
I already had this song set to post today, not even thinking about the date. After I had posted it, I realized that today is Pearl Harbor Day! So this is perfectly fitting to post today, of all days.
I love this song. When I really think about the words, it always makes me get a little choked up. I can't remember where I read/saw/heard this, but Greg and Janna (the husband and wife in the group) chose to sing the portion about the little girl going off to war together, thinking about their own little girl. That made it so much harder for them to sing the song. I can't even imagine how they did that.
For Freedom by Avalon Jody: Somewhere a trumpet sounds in the night A soldier is standing there It’s calling him out to the stars and the stripes It’s calling him God knows where
Melissa: He kisses the ones he loves goodbye and leaves in the dead of night For freedom he’ll heed the call Leave all he knows (duet) And for freedom he’ll stand and fight
Greg: And somewhere a man and wife can’t believe they’re waving their girl goodbye For gone are the days of pigtails and curls and candlelight lullabies
Janna: If they had their way she’d stay young forever and never be far from home But freedom has drawn her heart to danger’s shore And for freedom they’ll let her go
Jody: And somewhere a thunderous crash in the night It echoes all through the hills
Greg: Though many escape it’s wrath and it’s rage A soldier lies wounded still
Melissa / Janna: Remembering the land he loves, he cries I’ve loved you with all my might For freedom said I’m her son whatever comes (whatever comes) And for freedom I’ll say goodbye
Everybody:
And somewhere beneath the stars and the sky
Our flag is still standing there (she’s still standing there)
She bled and she brought one land under God (under God)
Her colors still lead us there (it’s still there)
She’s carried the lives of those before us
She’s buried the bold and brave
For freedom she holds our hopes and and hands up high
And for freedom she’ll ever wave
I watched four different videos for this song and decided this was the best one. It made me cry. That's a sure sign it's a good one in my book. :)
Uh-oh. It's December 1st. That means I'm down to just one month left to complete this challenge! Although, technically, I could give myself until the end of January since I didn't start it until then this year. But we'll see.
Testify to Love by Avalon All the colors of the rainbow All of voices of the wind Every dream that reaches out That reaches out to find where love begins Every word of every story Every star in every sky Every corner of creation lives to testify
For as long as I shall live I will testify to love I'll be a witness in the silences when words are not enough With every breath I take I will give thanks to God above For as long as I shall live I will testify to love
From the mountains to the valleys From the rivers to the sea Every hand that reaches out Every hand that reaches out to offer peace Every simple act of mercy Every step to kingdom come All the Hope in every heart will, speak what love has done
O-Oh Ohhh
For as long as I shall live I will testify to love I'll be a witness in the silences when words are not enough With every breath I take I will give thanks to God above For as long as I shall live I will testify to love
Colors of the rainbow Voices of the wind Heaven reaches out where love begins Word of every story Star in every sky All creation testify
Mountains to the valleys Rivers to the sea Heaven reaches out to offer peace Simple act of mercy Kingdom come Every heart will speak what love has done
Colors of the rainbow Voices of the wind Heaven reaches out where love begins Word of every story Star in every sky All creation testify
For as long as I shall live I will testify to love I'll be a witness in the silences when words are not enough With every breath I take I will give thanks to God above For as long as I shall live I will test------------------ify
For as long as I shall live I will testify to love I'll be a witness in the silences when words are not enough With every breath I take I will give thanks to God above For as long as I shall live I will testify to love
For as long as I shall live I will testify to love I'll be a witness in the silences when words are not enough With every breath I take I will give thanks to God above For as long as I shall live I will testify to love!
This song always used to be the one I immediately thought of when we were asked what song described our lives or was our theme song. Now I have other songs I think of, too, when asked that question, but I still love this one. Such a good song!
Everything to Me by Avalon I grew up in Sunday school, I memorized the Golden Rule And how Jesus came to set the sinner free I know the story inside out, and I can tell you all about the path that led Him up to Calvary But ask me why He loves me, and I don't know what to say But I'll never be the same because He changed my life when He became...
(CHORUS) Everything to me (everything to me) He's more than a story (more than a story) More than words on a page of history He is the air that I breathe (the air that I breathe), the water I thirst for (water I thirst for) And the ground beneath my feet Oh He's everything, everything to me
We're living in uncertain times And more and more I find that I'm aware of just how fragile life can be I wanna tell the world I've found, a love that turned my life around They need to know that they can taste and see Now everyday I'm prayin' (everday praying) just to give my heart away (give my heart away) I wanna live for Jesus, so that someone else might see that He is...
Everything to me (everything to me) He's more than a story (more than a story) More than words on a page of history (the air that I breathe) He's the air that I breathe (the air that I breathe), the water I thirst for (water I thirst for) And the ground beneath my feet Oh He's everything, (oh He's everything to me)
And lookin' back over my life at the end, (I'll go to meet You) I'll go to meet You, sayin You've been..
Everything to me More than a story More than words on a page of history
You're everything to me (everything to me) You're more than a story (more than a story) More than words on a page of history You're the air that I breathe (the air that I breathe), the water I thirst for (water I thirst for) And the ground beneath my feet You're everything Lord You're everything to me, Jesus
Everything, You're the water I thirst for You're everything to me, Jesus, oh Everything, You're the water I thirst for The air I breathe, the song I sing, oh Everything to me, everything to me You're my life, my love, everything
This is another song from my favorite Avalon CD. I need to break that one out again soon. Well, after Christmas. :)
Give It Up by Avalon Dream a little dream, dream a little while Remembering a day when you were wide-eyed Gave the Lord your heart, gave Him all your soul Slowly you have taken back control
Now you're somewhere in-between Your new world and your old routine
Dream a little dream, dream a little while Dream with me of how you think it might be...
To give Him all of your heart (give it up, give it up) Give Him all of your life (give it up, give it up) Give Him all of your soul (give it up, give it up) Give it up, give it up, woh
Na na na na na Na na na na na Na na na na na na na na na Na na na na na Na na na na na Na na na na na na na na na
Your choice is black or white, not a shade of gray Because in love there's no such thing as halfway Devotion can be swayed, emotions can be torn He'd rather we be hot or cold than lukewarm
Bring the Father all your soul (bring the Father all your soul) There's freedom in the letting go (Oh, let it go)
Pray a little prayer, Dream a little dream Dream with me of how you think it might be (yeah)
Ah ah ah ahh... (give it up give it all up heart and soul give it up give it up give it all up heart and soul)
Give Him all of your heart (give Him all your heart) Give Him all of your life (give it up, give it up) Give Him all of your soul (give it up give it up) (give Him all your soul) Give Him all of your heart (give it up, give it up) Give Him all of your life (give it up, give it up) (all of your life) Give Him all of your soul (give it up give it up) (all of your heart) Give it up give it up (give it up, give it up) (all of your life) Give it up give it up Oh
I figured it was high-time I put some more Avalon songs on here since they do happen to be one of my favorite groups. Okay, okay, I have a lot of favorite groups. But they are one of them. This particular song comes off of one of my favorite Avalon albums, too.
New Day by Avalon Chorus: It's a new day Oh, it's a new time And there's a new way I'm gonna live my life All the old has, passed away And the new has come Thank God, It's a brand new day
Verse 1: Lookin' back on yesterday There are things that I regret But I put the past behind me And I never will forget You hav covered my mistakes And my broken dreams Now over the horizon I see the dawn is drawing near And I realize the sun did rise Tomorrow's finally here
(Chorus)
Verse 2: Now when I wake up thinkin' 'Bout the things I've done before Memories I could not escape Well they can't haunt me anymore Now I can hold my head up high 'Cause I am not the same You've changed my whole perspective And with new eyes I see I've become a new creation 'Cause of what You've done for me
(Chorus)
Bridge: 'Cause of what You've done for me No, I am not ashamed This heart of mine is finally free I'll never be the same"
This is a song that gets stuck in my head so easily. But what a great song to get stuck in my head! I love it. I love the video below, too.
Orphans of God by Avalon Who here among us has not been broken Who here among us is without guilt or pain So oft? abandoned by our transgressions If such a thing as grace exists Then grace was made for lives like this
There are no strangers There are no outcasts There are no orphans of God So many fallen, but hallelujah There are no orphans of God
Come ye unwanted and find affection Come all ye weary, come and lay down your head Come ye unworthy, you are my brother If such a thing as grace exists Then grace was made for lives like this
O blessed Father, look down upon us We are Your children, we need Your love We run before Your throne of mercy And seek Your face to rise above
This is a song that really makes you think...and is such a wonderful, powerful reminder of God's presence at the same time. And as a side note, I had NO Avalon songs on here yet! That's just not right! So be expecting lots of Avalon songs in the future.
You Were There by Avalon I wonder how it must have felt When David stood to face Goliath on a hill I imagine that he shook with all his might Until You took his hand, and held on tight
'Cause You were there, You were there In the midst of danger's snare You were there, You were there always You were there when the hardest fight Seemed so out of reach Oh, You were there, You were always there You were always there
So there he stood upon that hill Abraham with knife in hand was poised to kill But God in all his sovereignty had bigger plans And just in time, You brought a lamb
'Cause You were there, You were there In the midst of the unclear You were there, you were there always You were there when obedience Seemed to not make sense You were there, You were always there You were always there
So haven't I learned that my ways Aren't as high as Yours are And You alone keep the universe From crumbling into dust You are God and though we would Not have understood You There You were
Hanging blameless on a cross You would rather die than leave us in the dark Every moment, every planned coincidence Just all makes sense With Your last breath
You were there, You were there During history’s darkest hour You were there, You were there always You were the Victor and the King You were the power in David's swing You were the calm in Abraham You are the God who understands You are the strength when we have none You are the living, Holy one You were, You are and You will always be the Risen Lamb of God
You were, You are and You will always be The Risen Lamb of God
